The metal warehouse cage is one of the main sorting and transfer tools in warehousing and logistics, and a flagship product for warehouse equipment makers. By base style, metal warehouse cages come in three common forms. One has wheels and moves easily by hand. One is a tall-leg cage that shifts with equipment such as a forklift. The third combines wheels and tall legs, covering both uses. On raw materials: the cage uses high-tensile wire drawn from high-carbon rod, typically 5mm, 6mm or 6.4mm wire diameter. Common mesh pitches on welded panels are 50×100, 100×100 and 50×50. The bottom is welded U-channel, rolled on a cold-rolled strip mill, with the four bottom corners stamped in one operation. Cages fall into two broad types. The foldable cage, also called a butterfly cage or warehouse cage, has fixed capacity, neat stacking, open visibility and easy stocktaking. The American-style cage uses high-tensile wire for its legs, whereas domestic cages usually stamp them from steel sheet.
